A Fall colour scene along the East River in New Glasgow NS. the little shed couldn't be more in tune with the seasons colour gamut.

What isn't being contrasted here? Brick versus wood, red versus green.
I think the composition has great balance both in texture and colour.

I love this shot.......simple detail of some plain grey concrete steps..... flip them upside down and wow.

Another favorite of mine. An old tree in a park here in New Glasgow NS. The big knot hole in the tree has become home to some sort of white mushroom like fungus... it looks great against the dark rough bark.

Twin Lens Reflex camera.

A couple of vintage looking warm tone black and whites of water in different states. The first shot is ice at Peggy's Cove NS, smoothed down and neatly fitted together from bumping into each other. The second shot is a detail from a brook just outside of Antigonish NS. The 3 second exposure gave me nice soft water set against the hard rock and sharp spikes of grass.

Maybe my favorite shot from the days shoot. I'm a sucker for these graphic texture shots.....smooth water vs. rough stone....and I like finding straight lines and angles in nature. One more texture is added by the little stack of leaves that has been piling up as the river runs past. Sort of and interesting colour gamut as well...

I forgot my neutral density filter but was still able to get a long enough exposure time to soften the water a bit.

Driving home from Halifax NS.... stopped coming down Mt.Thom and grabbed this shot.....

Amazing colour gamut from leaves reflected on the surface of the water by bright sunlight.

The ferris-wheel takes on a whole new look when you expose it for 6 or 7 seconds....

Time exposure of some of the action on the mid-way at the Fall Fair in Halifax NS. Two workers managed to stay still during the 8 second exposure... and the two telephone pole tops sure do look like crucifixes hovering in the background.

An HDR detail under the George Street bridge here in New Glasgow NS. Punchy colour and interesting contrast between the rust and the green paint.

A few hours under the stars in our backyard in Halifax NS. Lots of air-traffic passing through this shot as straight lines versus the circular trails of the stars. Another medium format film original.... 10x10 prints show lots of interesteing detail.

One of the most recognizable figures in our culture and the staff at my local McDonalds decided to let Ronnie hang out in the garbage dumpster while renovations were going on... he seems to be rolling with the punches.

One of the numerous deer that pass through our yard year-round. My son named this guy "Davey"

Kind of a spooky treatment depicting the replica of ship Hector in Pictou NS. It was open to tourists last summer but doesn't look so good for this season...

I used to shoot a fair amount of Infrared film, but this is Infrared on a digital camera. An old fence near my old house in Halifax NS on the Hammonds Plains road. Nice infrared from a little Nikon.

Bullrushes in my backyard, shot with a pinhole camera on Tri-X film. Yes, remember film? Overcast day, exposure of about 12 seconds.... thankfully no wind to speak of.

A small section of a stunning waterfall I found a couple of years ago by chance. It was virtually pristine.... not so much as an old gum wrapper lying around. Shot with a Canon G-9 on a sunny day through a Neutral Density filter for about 1 second.

A rich colour fall day in MacPherson's Mills NS.

The door to the old homestead at the Grist Mill in MacPherson's Mills NS. The dying old homestead seems to be being devoured by plant life.

My favorite shot from this days shooting... two apples floating amongst some leaves in MacPherson's Mills NS. It is an HDR image and the detail on the full-res file is amazing... the leaves are covered with beautiful crystal clear dew-drops.

A beautiful rich colour detail of a small pond in MacPherson's Mills NS. Its looks like a composite image with layering in Photoshop, but it's actually a single unaltered exposure... the only trick is that you are viewing it upside down.

Erosion fence zig-zags to infinity at Melmerby Beach NS. I've shot many images based on these fences over the years.

Obviously strong fall colours.... shot along a part of the Samson walking trail in New Glasgow NS.

I have to admit I don't always have a camera with me, but I know I should and shots like this one prove it. I was passing over the East River in New Glasgow NS on my way home and looked down the river from the George Street bridge and this was the scene. It only lasted about 5 minutes but I was able to pull over and get a few shots off from a tripod.

This is also and HDR image. The curved lines within the building are not lens error... the building has shifted and twisted itself out of plum.

An abandoned property...nothing much remains except and old barn and some scraggly old trees. This is an HDR image converted to sepia, shot through a rather inexpensive Korean made 8mm fish-eye lens that produces suprisingly acceptable results.
